Newspapers in Education Program

The Virginian-Pilot is proud to be a part of Newspapers in Education. This collaboration between corporate and community sponsors is a powerful force for helping students become literate, knowledgeable citizens who will be better able to contribute to their community and country.

For teachers, the newspaper can be a dynamic tool, a way to match abstract concepts with real-life situations: math and the stock market, social studies and current events, science and weather phenomena, and so much more. The newspaper gives learning a context. It turns classroom lessons into lessons in life.
